The First Farthing Session began on a beach somewhere on the outer islands of Araldar. Our fearless party, having been nearly overwhelmed by pirates were further beset upon by a wild squall! The winds tore away an their ship and cast them into the sea, only to be washed up on an unfamiliar beach.
As the party came to their senses and started to rise to their feet, they soon noticed that to the left of them trouble was brewing. The bow of their former vessel, Rosaura had also washed ashore quite near them. As the party came to its collective senses, every hole in the wreck started to disgorge huge crabs!
Who Shall Eat Whom?[edit]
Barcal Nariman and Madil Zhadyra were quick to jump into the fray. Rael Starflower bolstered the warriors with his blessed magic as the pair proceeded to dismember the crabs one by one. As the party gained confidence, Rael Starflower began to notice something awry with the remainder of the shipwreck. Not knowing exactly what it was he continued to send his supporting magic. Then all hell broke loose.
The wreck exploded to reveal even more giant crabs and a pair of humongous crabs, possibly the parents of the smaller ones. They soon closed on the brave warriors. Meanwhile, the other members of the former Rosaura crew had washed in on the tide. Snapping to their senses, Cemzick Nucklestamp and Rael Starflower flashed into action. Jarseth Bhalin, lucky to be alive, was in no shape to fight and kept his profile low.
Soon the numbers of the giant crabs started to dwindle. With a concerted effort, the humongous crab facing Madil Zhadyra fell to the onslaught. The second humongous crab tore fiercely at Barcal Nariman and would have killed him if not for the intervention of Rael Starflower's healing magic. Relief grasped the crew as the remaining crab fell.
The party noshed on crab stew and set up camp in the woods just up from the beach. After an uneventful night they headed north, hoping to follow the beach and get to their original destination of Shokan. They set up watches, but nothing affected their sleep and they were on the trail first thing in the morning.
Thar be Pirates![edit]
Getting toward the end of the afternoon, the party discovered a group of brigands who had set up a camp on the beach. They had a pair of small rowboats, with them. The party rogue investigated more closely and put their number at 10 in total. As the party remained hidden, two of the brigands passed nearby on an errand to scout the beaches. The party made its move. Rael Starflower cast a hold person on the far brigand and the rest of the party killed the other. They dragged the victims into the bush.
After interrogating the held brigand, they learned that the the pirate ship had some 50 hands, 10 of which were on shore... or 9 now. The math confused him. He also said that they had taken the captain of their previously found ship's captain, Captain Batyrbek Mergen and were holding him for ransom. The party knocked the brigand unconscious and left him behind as they made their move to stalk the rest of the pirates.
After a sloppy attempt at stealth, the party were soon engaging the pirates, with Madil Zhadyra and Rael Starflower up against the shiphands and Barcal Nariman up against the leaders. Madil and Rael soon made short work of their brigands with one of them making it to safety in a full run. Barcal and the rogue found more resistance from the leaders, but managed to take down one and causing the other to run for his life.
A Rescued Captain[edit]
The party discovered Captain Mergen bound and gagged in their tent. He was unharmed. He likely has a lot to say...
