The session began with Rayjok Halperion making an embassy to Maercland, visiting the port cities of Sogis Saykas and Sogis Kirgin. Taking a page from the book of Hedgewind Jalinbeti, Rayjok set out to encourage Grendel to emigrate to Jalinbeti and of course his new town of Halperion. Hoping for create a new Otani precedent for diversity in his town, Rayjok addressed his message to politicians, tradespeople and commoners alike.
Before leaving he bade his trusted party members do the same, sending Togzhan Kuat to the the Aydahar Confederation and Caladan Ironforge to the League of Dweorgen Miners. Each was sent to bear the same message on their journeys, "Jalinbeti and Halperion are bringing in a new age of Otani peace... and they are hiring."
Why Should We Move?[edit]
Never before had residents of a Sogis Kirgin ever considered living somewhere other than a Grendel city. The first question they had was, "Why Should We Move?"
Rayjok Halperion explained that most Grendel, and most humans for that matter, had been raised in a pattern that kept everyone in a state of constant war. He argued that war profits very few and never the people. He promised that in Halperion and Jalinbeti, Grendel could work alongside humans and prosper in peace, perhaps for the first time in Grendel history. He explained that at present, there were more jobs in the region than there were Grendel in Maercland and expounded upon how the first Grendel merchants and tradespeople to inhabit the new towns would surely prosper.
While the murmurs of the crowd hardly raised a cheer, there were certainly raised eyebrows. Visions of unfiltered profits floated through the minds of many tradespeople, particularly those who do not prosper in times of peace. Equipping a new city to defend itself could make the right Grendel a comfortable creature indeed. Between profiteers, egalitarians, the optimistic and the bored, Rayjok Halperion's message of a hopeful future spread like wildfire.
The Grendel Give Back[edit]
War Chiefs from both Grendel cities saw a deep understanding of the Grendel experience in Rayjok Halperion. When at first they wished to oppose, even throw him out of their cities, they understood that he may represent a new and even better way forward for Grendel and perhaps the entire world. The War Chief of Sogis Saykas presented Rayjok with a long blade of Grendel steel as a gift for his embassy. The War Chief of Sogis Kirgin presented Rayjok with a short blade, also of Grendel steel so that he may one day master the Grendel fighting style of Qilis oneri.
The Underground[edit]
Rayjok Halperion reasoned that if there were ever a people impossible to invade it might be the Ungir. Cities and towns in the Ungirsi Federation were entirely connected underground thanks to the Ungirsi knack for tunneling. Rayjok headed south for Negizi Ungir to make his next embassy.
