Balagash is a small town in the northwestern region of Ortalyk, nestled in the heart of the Balagash Forest.
Government[edit]
The two principal members of the Balagash administration are the governor, Irimshik Akimi and the Captain of the Guard, Beket Musabek. The town has seen a string of Captains of the Guard lately with the treason of Anasha Bastiga and the sudden abdication of Hedgewind Jalinbeti.
Sadly the former Captain ran afoul of the Tsar and was hung for treason on the outskirts of town, while the latter is rumoured to be creating an entirely new settlement west of Balagash.
The governor, is a powerful wizard in his own right and a competent administrator. The drama of late with his Captains of the Guard has drawn some ire from the locals and possibly even the Tsar himself.
Geography[edit]
Balagash is situated in western Ortalyk, in the northwest province of Karagay. This map shows its nearest neighboring settlements. While the areas surrounding Balagash have been cleared for building supplies and to create farmland, the city is surrounded for miles by the Balagash Forest. Additionally, a new feature has miraculously arrived at the town. The Balagash River now flows past the city and into the Astanals River.
Amenities[edit]
Balagash has most of the offerings of goods and services one would come to expect from a town of its size. Venues include:
- Balagash Keep: Home and citadel of Governor Irimshik Akimi.
- The Stuffed Kobold: An inn that will shelter upward of 20 adventurers, slake their thirst and fill their bellies. The inn features an actual stuffed kobold, which is proudly displayed as a totem to ward off these vile creatures.
