As everyone in the party was abed on the night of the 6th there was one more strange occurrence to mark the day. Obsidian Black had a dream about circles and boxes. Specifically, he had a particular dream about a particular circle that would interface with one of the Memes of Aspan. The dream was very clear to him and by the time he awoke, he believed the dream to be not just his imagination, but that he was in possession (somewhere in his mind) of the key to unlocking the memes.

Breakfast of Champions[edit]

Having previously returned to the rebels and gaining a better understanding of what they felt was the best strategy to help mitigate a war, Panamon Cree joined the breakfast table to lay out a strategy. He explained that there was a local politician who was running a campaign for alderman of Trappist, was over-doing her job and explaining to people that she would support a path to war. Her rhetoric, a light version of Zhannur Timurlan's own speeches, were winning her great audiences.

Panamon also pointed out that there were members of the Sanctum of Fenris who were hosting private sermons outside of the Sanctum and also spewing Tumurlan's rhetoric. Panamon Cree then made it clear that he would continue to strategize with the rebels and come up with a way to discredit, Aijan Sabyrek, the up and coming alderman.

Bring out Your Dead[edit]

Meanwhile, Obsidian Black came up with a plan of his own. With his knowledge of the circles and the boxes deep within him, he conjectured that perhaps he'd be able to summon the dead by manipulating their new acquisition, them meme On the Ascent to Heaven. He assured Panamon Cree that he'd have dead walking soon and to alert the rebels to pin this phenomenon on Aijan Sabyrek, the up and coming alderman. Panamon got the plan immediately and vacated the hotel to put it in motion.

After cleaning out Panamon's room, the only one with enough floor space, Obsidian Black began to work on a magic circle. He had only shimmering memories of the circle, but added a few sips of dragon's blood from his previously acquired vials. The blood restored his memory and juiced up the freshly bought paints to make an excellent magic circle. Placing the box in the circle, applying more blood and some of his own acid spells, he was able to create much light and a "MMMUWWWW" sound; kind of the opposite of "WUMMMM" and a lot less forceful than the Kara incidents.

The Prophesy[edit]

Meanwhile, Greef Roake had tracked down the crazy guy screaming about "The Prophesy!". When cornered, he explained to Greef that he had see many people in his prophesy, Greef and his friend (Matteo). He went on to explain that everyone he saw in the prophesy was fighting with the undead.

The crazy prophet said that some of the people he shouted at had died in their fight in his visions. With others he was not so sure. Greef asked in the undead were of a particular type and the prophet explained that they were like him, Garis but dead. While Greef contemplated that information, the man ran off, screaming "You, you are in the prophesy!" to one stranger after another.

RAGNAROK![edit]

Aijan Sabyrek fires up a crowd.

After dinner, plans in place, spells cast, agents assigned to 'discredit' the aspiring alderman and Panamon Cree and Abyl Sarsen went to a speech she had planned. Getting into the venue was easily done, the pair watched in the knowledge that their rumours would be spread. When the speech began, the aspiring alderman presented a talisman with a symbol of Fenris upon it. Her speech went thus:

"Dear friends and citizens of Trappist. I am running for council of this city because I'm the only one who see's what's right before us!"

The crowd silenced and she raised a cry, "The dead have risen! Ragnarok is upon us! Ragnarok has begun!"

The crowd went wild, shouting "Ragnarok! Ragnarok! Ragnarok!"

Abyl Sarsen made haste back to the hotel, while Panamon Cree made for the rebel safe house. Abyl's description of the events had the party convinced that their plan had gone terribly wrong. Panamon Cree, a holdout for some good news stayed with the rebels while crowds tore up the streets and caused general havoc. When no news came, he eventually left the safehouse, armed with the possible location of the aspiring alderwoman's hotel.

Experimenting with Disaster[edit]

The original plan having fallen apart, Obsidian Black decided that the situation called for some improvisation. Quaffing another vial of dragon's blood, he reopened the meme On the Ascent to Heaven and struck it with a sleepy suggestion spell. The following "MMMUWWWW" sound did indeed have a calming effect on the rioting crowd outside causing some of them to literally fall asleep. Having had enough, the party turned in for the evening avoiding any danger of being swept up in the mob.

New Day, New Plan[edit]

A Trappist Police Constable

Panamon Cree and Greef Roake woke the next morning to discover that their spellcasting was not working. They both had a dread sense that their gods were simply not there. Out of doors, the Trappist Police were picking up sleeping rioters and either sending them home or arresting them based on how belligerent they were upon rousing.

Lack of spellpower did not stop Panamon and Obsidian (who's spells were unaffected) from heading to the politician's hotel, renting a meeting room and setting up surveillance operations. With Panamon's imp Tryx running back and forth from Aijan Sabyrek's door, they were able to determine that she was planning another rally and doing so as a result of talking very respectfully to some sort of device.

Also during the surveilance, Aijan went to the front desk and asked the concierge to arrange a speaking venue for her this very night. Seizing the opportunity, Obsidian Black used his sorcerer abilities to divert the attention of her bodyguards, enter the politician's suite, and remove the device without being noticed. Returning to the meeting room, he presented the device to Panamon who had his imp stash it in his pocket dimension.

DM Note: There are zero bars in the Pocket Dimension.

Obsidian Black was not done with his shenanigans however. Disguised as Aijan Sabyrek he went to the front desk and asked the same concierge to cancel the evening's speaking plans. After Aijan left the building, Obsidian then left a note under the politician's door that read, "We know what you did. Withdraw."

Greef's Grief[edit]

With no spell power, Greef Roake went to the Sanctum of Fenris to grieve. He found the doors there were closed; a very unusual thing for midday. He sat on the step to contemplate this when one of the members of the clergy invited him in, asking "Did you have something to do with this?"

Greef gained the trust of the clergyman explaining that he had no idea what was happening and had never experienced a lack of spells before. The Garis cleric explained that this had happened before and that it seemed to happen on the day after the Eye of Woden had set. He said that it did not happen every setting in the past, but it seemed to be every 5 days now. Greef continued to grieve the rest of the day, witnessing the High Priest of the church Tumar Asylkhan come into the church, enter his vestry, ransack it swearing, and then stomp out on his way to the citadel.

Greef would later meet up with the same Fenris Clergy at The Good Dog where they decided to get as drunk as possible to forget that their spells were ever gone. Greef and the rest of the party retired for the night in the knowledge that a boat out of Garis would be ready to take them back to Ortalyk the next day...
