Kirkuyey is the tenth month of the year on the Otan calendar and marks the beginning of the Otan autumn. While Kazan goes by different names in different languages, the same 30 day period is recognized throughout Otan.

Kazan Symbols

The following symbols are representational of the month of Kazan.

  • Water - Anyone who is involved in agriculture has a special relationship with water in the month of Kazan. Early in the month, farmers may wish for one or two last rainfalls to bulk up their crops before harvest. They will pray that there are no freezing rains or hail to beat down their crops. Lastly they will pray for a few dry weeks to harvest and store their crops.
  • Diamonds - These clear gemstones are associated with Kazan and are said to bring good luck this month any who possess them. Similarly anyone born in this month will seek diamonds as a good luck charm. Diamonds are prohibitively expensive and common folk will often substitute quartz or other clear gemstones to gather their luck.
