Each of the seventeen governments of Otan has a military force at its disposal. In each case this military has the dual purpose of defending their national borders and people. Most nations also have an offensive capability according to the wishes of their leadership. Some militaries maintain offensive forces as a deterrent to aggression, some to support a national tradition, and others with the intent of one day becoming an aggressor.

A summary militaries of Otan and their various specialties and capabilities are listed as follows:

Ælfwode military

Ælfgarade military

Araldar military

Mostly a naval force with marines.

Aydahari military

Batis military

Dweorgen military

Garis military

The Garis military is designed for aggression. It is made up of two parts, the Ustemdik Region forces, which are entirely geared for offensive purposes and the Beybitsilik Region forces, which are designed as occupation and peacekeeping forces. The Garis will rarely, if ever, wage war in a territory that they do not plan to keep.

Like traditional militaries, the Garis military group themselves into divisions, each with infantry, cavalry and bowmen. A couple of subtle differences exist, however as the bowmen have been replaced by Garis wielding firearms. Also, the cavalry prefer riding large wolves to horses, the wolves having a better instinct for battle.

The Garis military has a navy of which little is known, save that their vessels have the appearance of being metal clad. The Garis have also begun to build air forces, notably in the form of massive dirigibles. Little is known about the military capabilities of these monstrous airships.

Grendel military

Jalinjeri military

The Jalinjeri military is made up of 27 regular divisions, or perhaps more accurately described as irregular divisions and two special divisions. Independent observers describe the Jalinjeri military as "hastily assembled and poorly trained". The local Ortalykshilar, however, stand in sharp contrast to this as they were ready to mount a defense against the Ortalyk military, had the secession of the Kiywar Territory been answered with military force.

While it has been largely left to Hedgewind Jalinbeti to organize the military, though in recent months his Lord Commander of Jalinjeri, the former Boyar of Kiywar Territory, Almaz Zhibek has taken up the task of recruiting and training the nation's military.

Karazalik military

Kiskentay military

Kuuliki military

Ortalyk military

The Ortalyk military is a standard configuration made up of divisions consisting of infantry, bowmen, and cavalry. Special forces may include wizards and other oddities. Ortalyk's coast is defended by its navy and marines, the latter who can provide offensive forces to distant coastal objectives. Ortalyk does not posses air forces outside of dirigibles used by their signal corps.

The Ortalyk military is large, made up of 18 regular divisions, over 500 sea vessels and one special division dubbed The Tsar's Guard. The latter are hand picked soldiers from the other provincial regiments. Provincial divisions are recruited and organized by that province's Boyar. Each division not led by a [provincial Boyar is commanded by soldier of the rank of general. Naval divisions are led by an Admiral.
