The Eighth Tertiary Session began in the freshly conquered ice palace of Garis (?) construction. The party meticulously combed the various rooms for anything they might have missed on earlier searches. 6 more wizards were found in their magical circles behind secret doors. Meanwhile just outside the palace, Hedgewind Jalinbeti, Ospan Akhmet and Toktar Amangul worked to process the other wizards and get them back to their homes.
Hedgewind Makes an Offer
The newly liberated palace contains 8 human sized and 2 giant sized coffins. Hedgewind offered to pay handsomely for them if the party could manage to get them to Jalinbeti. Raqim said that he would consider the offer. Raqim Anuar later deduced that these coffines must be some type of statis chamber. After some investigation he learned that he could open, close, and turn them on and off; a process in which they fill with liquid (presumably water).
The Tunnel
A 200 foot drop from the immediate face of the fortress gained the party access to a tunnel leading on path going either east or west. The tunnel turned out to be a more or less semi-squarish cut tunnel, about 30 feet in both width and height. It extended further west than the eye could see and further to the east as well.
The party decided to try their luck to the east and see where the tunnel took them. Along the way they found that the tunnel was cut nearly perfectly through the rock. A few exceptions existed; fissures which might allow the passage of mountain critters, for example. The trip turned out to be uneventful until the very end. After about a half a day's travel in the tunnel's blackness, they emerged to a fantastic view of southern Soltustic. They could see all the way to Jel.
The drop from the view was about 1500 feet down the mountain slope, but the tunnel was a perfect (and creature free) path back to the castle and so the party made their way back. On arrival, they learned about the secession of the Kiywar Territory and the formation of the new country of Jalinjeri. Hedgewind Jalinbeti had been a busier fellow than they might have guessed.
The Other Direction
The next morning the party decided to explore the western passage. It wasn't until the end of aa long day's travel when a skittering was heard. It was a mighty skittering. The party debated on what to do, tossing light in their direction and then food. Eventually they decided to engage the beasts, which they identified as young remorhaz.
The fight began with an ineffectual fireball spell. Lirris Liadon drank his growth potion and charged into the beasts. The group of two became three, but Raqim Anuar befuddled the first two with an hallucinogenic spell. Lirris and the party brought the three beasts down one by one, with Lirris being the only one to suffer any damage. The creatures radiated such heat that even being near them in combat caused burns to all they combat.
The party harvested some of the organs and parts from the creatures for research, camped in the tunnel and returned to the ice castle the next day. Determined to prevent such beasts from getting into the complex, Raqim Anuar spent a couple of days making impassable doors.
The Spending of the Loot
The party decided it was time to return to Jel and see what magics were for sale that might compliment their newly found skills in combat and general mayhem creating ability. Lirris equipped himself with protective bracers and a new sword. Ebil purchased a magical crossbow. Raqim found a magical book that he wanted... but could not afford it. He was tremendously surprised when the shopkeeper gifted the grimoire to him for his part in freeing so many wizards from the Garis sorceress.
With nothing left to do, and all shopped out, Raqim Anuar returned his notes to the ROSA archive... copied himself a LOAD of spells and retired to the inn with the rest of the party...
