The Forty-sixth Session began with the party spread across Jalinjeri. Panamon Cree was in the Aspanjalisi site, talking to travellers interested in perhaps setting up their fortunes in the newly proposed settlement. Obsidian Black remained at Jalinbeti Citadel to consult with Hedgewind Jalinbeti and discuss any new revelations related to the Memes of Aspan. Mira Nephilim, dragon-whisperer, repaired to Halperion where she wished to speak with local dragons about how to go about defeating the Garis.
The Road Less Travelled
Panamon Cree returned to Aspanjalisi to be greeted by Saduakas Yermek, who in turn informed him that there were a number of individuals that he may wish to meet with.
Panamon first met with Aysha Uri, a self-styled "cleaner". She repeated what had been explained to her by Saduakas Yermek, that the newly forming province was likely going to be in need of "cleaning". Panamon agreed to provide her with a generous salary and lush citadel accommodations if she would consider making Aspanjalisi her new home, a bargain to which she tentatively agreed.
He next met with the Dweorgen miner Darkhan Kasisi, who he granted a three-month prospecting and exploration lease within the Aspanjalisi Prefecture mountains. After that he met with Elnara Kasietti, an extremely enthusiastic cleric of Woden who was keen to maintain a healthy respect for the gods (particularly Woden]] in the region and establish a Temple of Woden at the site.
His last meeting was with Zhanik Akerke. a Kuulik trader from the Kuulik Trade Company. Zhanik was all business and Panamon liked everything that Zhanik said. He offered Zhanik tax breaks for one year and carte blanche on establishing any facility that might increase trade in the town, from docks to markets and beyond. Zhanik accepted.
Hedgewind and the Women
Hedgewind Jalinbeti was entertaining the Ninth Lotus of Aspan among other Flowers of Aspan guests in his meme research facility. The women had a combination of four memes that they were wishing to join into some sort of "weapon". The nature of this weapon was unknown to them, though they were able to determine (more or less) what was required for the necessary ritual.
Meanwhile, Obsidian Black pulled Hedgewind aside to discuss other matters... well, Shardenzar. Hegewind directed Obsidian back to his continental meme map where he displayed a couple of scenarios of battle, most resulting in a swirling distribution of souls to the heavens and the nether world. When the armies were directed toward the Towers of Eriquat they all became souls in the Nether World regardless of their previous disposition with the gods.
The conversation turned toward the Ninth Lotus of Aspan who was brought back in and asked for Obsidian's help in perhaps recreating his sorcerous circles to join her four memes. She produced a drawing of what was required, and Obsidian could see that was well within his capabilities. He agreed and started on the plan immediately.
Mira and the Green Dragon
With the assistance of [[Halperion Prefecture}}'s Minister of Dragons and her brother Spire, Mira Nephilim was directed toward her goal. This was to make contact with more and more dragons and convince them to help in the cause of helping to end the Garis war.
Her first prospect was an adult green dragon swimming in the river, having just emerged from its freshly constructed lair. Mira and her black dragon wyrmling, dove into the river to catch up with the large creature. Startled, in considered releasing a blast of its noxious breath when they arrived, but Mira offered it snacks.
The creature accepted the snacks and a conversation began. It was an adult female, who went by the name of Ulanu. Mira explained to Ulanu that the great flying vehicles deployed by the Garis had a weakness, and made diagrams for Ulanu in the sand. Ulanu explained that they would never be able to get close enough to exploit this weakness, that any dragon who flew close was killed in the air. They eventually agreed that Ulanu would spread the news of this weakness to her dragon friends, while she searched for a way to get the dragons close enough to attack.
Next, Mira visited a mated pair of adult bronze dragons. They quickly shifted into humanoid, specifically Aydahar form, to better entertain their unexpected guest. They engaged in conversation which quickly turned toward the Memes of Aspan. Mira explained that these memes might be instrumental in defeating the Garis. The dragons, named Temir and Ort, understood and explained that their peers had a tendency to 'hoard'. They pledged that they would start consulting with other dragons to see if any of their kind might be sitting upon a meme in their now very depleted hoards.
Harbingers of Death from Above
Back at the site of the future town of Aspanjalisi, a Garis dreadnought, flying about 1/2 mile in the air pulled to within a mile of the building site to observe the construction site. Beneath and around the dreadnought flew some two dozen menacing Eriquat bloodcasters. Panamon Cree flew up to take a look but when he got too close, the ship's guns turned toward him and the bloodcasters started to close in.
Panamon retreated to a safe distance and neither the ship nor the bloodcasters gave chase. Eventually, the airship drifted off and Panamon reported his observations back to Jalinbeti. He was recalled to the Jalinbeti Citadel for an emergency meeting to discuss this new development.
Meanwhile, Mira Nephilim discussed where they might spend more time together, Aspanjalisi topping the list so that they might be able to join up with their fourth sibling and learn more about the secrets of their origin. They all decided to meet up first at Jalinbeti Citadel.
The First Nightshade
After gathering, the council agreed that the threat of Shardenzar and the Council of Nine was the greatest threat to Jalinjeri and perhaps the entire world of Otan. They discussed the various strategies to deal with the bloodcasters, but in the end, most of the discussions circled back to finding a way to neutralize Shardenzar. Hedgewind Jalinbeti broke up the meeting and asked the council to reconvene with proposals on how to take care of their Shardenzar problem.
They were all then led into the back chamber where Obsidian Black's magic circles were being put to use. As diagrammed, the four memes were placed in the magic circles, and the center circle received a Very Large Diamond. The Fourteenth Rose of Karakat, who had attended previous journeys with Obsidian situated herself near the circles, along with many other priestesses. This arrangement was done as prescribed in the diagram they had previously made.
Once they had all taken their places, the circles were activated by the Fourteenth Rose of Karakat. In moments, she and the other Flowers of Aspan found themselves drawn toward the central diamond. The pull was first gentle, them their robes and skirts were being drawn inward. Eventually, the strength of the attraction grew out of control. The priestess' clothes were torn from their bodies as they dropped to the ground to resist being pulled toward and into(?) the diamond.
As their clothing flew toward and disappeared into the diamond, the skin and flesh of the hapless women began being torn from their bodies. This morass of flesh and blood joined the maelstrom of clothing, which all swirled into the diamond, disappearing. The last of the women, their skeletons, eventually broke apart into a clattering of bones and were also drawn swirling into the gleaming stone to disappear forever.
The diamond, now gorged with the flesh of the twenty women began to pulse red. The pulsations grew in magnitude, creating an ear-splitting noise, much like a heartbeat. The final beat of the stone sounded more like an explosion and the diamond burst apart, disgorging a fully grown woman, dressed in black with a red hijab.
This was the birth of the First Nightshade of Aspan.

Cabinet Reports
Halperion Prefecture
Cabinet Postion | Name | Report |
---|---|---|
Deputy Earth Minister | Spire | Batis has declined to ship us grain. They are apparently involved in a local war and will not export foodstuffs until the war effort is resolved to their complete satisfaction. |
Finance Minister | Gulshara Rysbek | The new taxation programs are very unpopular with the people. Dragons will not and can not pay taxes, many having lost their hoards. Revenue is lagging and military spending may have to be cut. |
Master of Spies | Kenzhe Farkhad | None. |
War Chief of the Halperion Irregulars | Nuradin Danijar | Desertions are high, especially among the Ortalykshilar not from this region. They are leaving Halperion to join a new sect in Jalinbeti under the daughter of the former Tsar, Princess Svetlana Zhurek. |
Minister of Dragons | Togzhan Kuat | The dragons lament the taxation of their eggs and will pay no more. They are pleased with the habitats and lairs being built for them by the local Ungir. |
Minister of Justice | Ulan Kizik | Anarchy! |
Mayor of Halperion | Merey Evnika | Building materials are in short supply. Food is in short supply. The tent cities are becoming more and more unbearable for their residents. Many more permanent residences need to be constructed soon as the summer won't last forever. |
Minister of Ortalykshilar Affairs | Suleimen Zhasulan | There are rumors that the Zhurek Dynasty continues and will try to take back Ortalyk from the Garis. Most of the Ortalykshilar migrants would probably leave if this comes to pass. |
Minister of Sigis Turgindar Affairs | Kairat Kulyash | The Sigis Turgindar are livid that no effort at all has been made to contact the Sigis Empire. The people want to hear news from their former home. |
First of Halperion Dweorges | Caladan Temir | Mining has begun. It is too early to predict results. |
Halperion Fire Boss | Madi Mavlan | The local Ungir have captured a considerable stash of Garis weapons from the Battle of Halperion. It has been requested that they turn over these weapons to the Jalinjeri government, but this is in violation of the agreement with Halperion Prefecture. Some profit should be realized! The Ungir have been tirelessly making homes for dragons and re-creating earthworks to protect the city of Halperion. Demanding their weapons stash without compensation is an outrage. |
Halperion Grendel Horde Chief | Nurtas Umitzhan | Ungir complain too much. Humans complain too much. |
Ælfen Circle of Hyperion | Aydana Altyngul | Restoration efforts in the Balagash Forest have begun, however, Garis defense forces continue to hamper conservation/restoration efforts. Something must be done! |
