Karagay served as the stronghold of the Karagay Province over the many years of conflict with the Ungirsi Federation. In aid of this battle-hardened disposition, the city is surrounded by a wall and the Boyar's citadel is well within the walls.
Government[edit]
Balagash is the capitol city of Karagay Province and is administered by a governor, Kurban Aidyn, who receives extra direction (a lot of extra direction) from the provincial Boyar Kadir Meyram.
The governor, unlike his clerical boyar is a fighter through and through and has been seasoned on the battlefields and in the forests to drive back the kobold hordes.
Geography[edit]
Karagay is situated in western Ortalyk, in the center of the province of Karagay. This map shows its nearest neighboring settlements. The beginning of the Astanals River flows through Karagay and all the way to Kala Astanals the capitol of Ortalyk. This makes river passage to and from the capitol possible.
Amenities[edit]
Karagay has a wide range of goods and services due to its large size of over 17,000 people. Venues include taverns, inns, and shops of nearly all description, including:
- The Karagay Citadel: The home of the provincial Boyar Kadir Meyram and the local Governor Kurban Aidyn.
- Temple of Woden: A full featured temple with many clerics of Woden persuasion.
- River Passage to Kala Astanals: River boats filled with trade goods routinely travel up and down the Astanals River
- The Lazy Pearl: a high-end tavern and inn near the Karagay Citadel.
Factions and Personalities[edit]
- Karagay City Guard and the Captain of the Guard: Abulkhair Kulai.
- A chapter of the Wrecking Crew currently operates out of a stable Nils the Farrier in the town's outskirts: A fighter's club known to attract skilled and sometimes renowned fighters.
- Aizhana Baksilik a noted and respected (feared) sorcerer, originally from Ontustik. She resides in an unmistakable sorcerer's tower.
- Kulyash Nurassyl perhaps the city's leading warlock. In peace times, Kulyash is rarely seen in public.
