Apparently what it's like to be dead

After a horiffic burning experience, Obsidian was surprised to find himself in a condition of not being dead. He awoke in a bed, an exceedingly comfortable bed, a bed more comfortable than he had ever experienced in his life. It was difficult to move, but Obsidian managed to lift himself to a sitting position and then swing his legs over the edge of the bed. Carefully he shifted to his feet and began to walk around the room.

Soft glowing light came from diverse places. The light was clearly magical as there were no torches on the walls. There was no smell of smoke. The walls and floors were perfectly smooth. Obsidian noticed that there were several other beds in the room, all unoccupied.

Then he stood in shock. On the wall, was the night sky. "How the hell did the sky end up on the wall?" Obsidian wondered.

As Obsidian looked out into the sky, a man approached him quickly from behind. The uniformed man, golden haired with a striking physique and a beauty that seems to exceed what is possible for a human, gently chided Obsidian.

"You're on the wrong side of town buckaroo," he said.

Then man led Obsidian back to his bed and gently, but firmly, helped him back into its overwhelmingly soft embrace. Meanwhile, a similarly uniformed woman of unbelievable beauty entered the room and rushed to assist the man.

The man directed, "Let's get him plugged back to the Omni!"

"What happened, did he die?" She asked.

"It looks like it... checking..."

"Why didn't he recyc?" She asked before the man could finish checking.

"I told you I'm checking... Oh shit, he was next to a Ylem source!"

The woman shone a light into Obsidian's eyes while pulling up his eyelids.

"Sonofabich!" Said the man. "OK. Give him 5 more minutes on the Omni TOPS! If he's not back in the queue flush him."

The woman turned to reassure Obsidian while the man ran out of the room.
