Hedgewind Jalinbeti is an accomplished wizard with a penchant for wielding flame. He is considered by friends and foes to be a true pyromaniac with a love for flames natural, magical and metaphorical. He is the prime minister of the newly formed nation of Jalinjeri.

History[edit]

Hedgewind Jalinbeti began his career as a rogue wizard, with a few flame spells and a strong desire to acquire power. He quickly honed his magical skills and achieved his first measure of power in a surprising turn of events in Balagash politics. There, he was named the Captain of the Guard of the Balagash City Guard, the second ranking official in Balagash after the governor. During this time he shortly resided in Balagash Keep.

Even with his many duties as Captain of the Guard, he maintained a great deal number of activities outside of his assigned position. He was rumoured to possess wealth well beyond his pay grade and would engage "associates" to carry out tasks for him on a regular basis. Even while he was in the employ of the Governor of Balagash he was laying the groundwork to establish a new town in Ortalyk some 60 miles east.

While many scoffed at Hedgewind's plans to try and build a town in the middle of nowhere, a miracle occurred. A fissure in a small mountain nearby the proposed site ruptured, creating a river that travelled all the way through and past Jalinbeti, eventually linking up with the mighty Astanals River. Thus Hedgewind and the town of Jalinbeti had a trade route to the capital of Kala Astanals.

Secession of Kiywar Territory[edit]

On the 1st of Silde, 261 IM, the Kiywar Territory seceded from Ortalyk. This forced the hand of Hedgewind Jalinbeti who moved his contacts to take control of the region before foreign nations or the Ortalyk Tsar might send an army to regain control. With the Tsar of Ortalyk readying his forces for a possible confrontation with the Garis Triumvirate, Hedgewind only needed to control local powers and agitants.

One ally he recruited was the territorial leader, Boyar Almaz Zhibek, a former appointment of the Tsar Batil Zhurek. He continues to be regarded a fierce warrior and much feared by Ungir. He defected from the Ortalyk realm after the secession of the Kiywar Territory and now serves as the Lord Commander of Jalinjeri military affairs under Hedgewind.

Multiracial Immigration[edit]

Prior to the seccesion of the Kiywar Territory, Hedgewind had both embarked upon and funded various embassies t neighboring countries in order to inspire the idea of emigrating to his city of Jalinbeti and the lands which now form the nation of Jalinjeri.

Aspirations[edit]

Hedgewind oversees the construction of Jalinbeti.

In Jalinbeti, Hedgewind is constructing a huge citadel facing the river. To accomplish this project he has employed stone giants who have been hauling large slabs of rock from the nearby mountains, carving them with exquisite patterns and reliefs and setting them into the citadel walls.

Hedgewind Jalinbeti has been calling for the best craftsmen in the world to come from every city and country in Otan to stake a claim to greatness in his town of Jalinbeti. He regularly employs adventurers of every stripe to help him to collect resources or acquire fresh talent to help him build his city.

As his role as the Governor of Jalinbeti gains more influence, Hedgewind continues to attract craftsmen and adventurers alike to Jalinbeti by offering work to visiting adventurers and various other perks to those skilled tradespeople who commit to moving to Jalinbeti early in its growth

Speculation and Rumor[edit]

For those who are knowledgeable of the Memes of Aspan there is further rumor that Hedgewind is not only in possession of one, but actively using it to increase his power in the region.

Hedgewind is said to be gaining increased and even friendly relations with the Ungir and the Ungirsi Federation.

Hedgewind is said to be drastically increasing trade between Ortalyk and Ælfwode.
