In [[Wodenism|Wodenist]] lore, Jormungandr is also known as the Otan Serpent, a sea serpent said to surround the globe. [[Jormungandr]] is the middle child of a fabled giantess and the mischievous god [[Loki]] and brother to the wolf [[Fenrir]], and [[Hel]], goddess of the underworld.

When he was young, [[Woden]] tossed the (then only large) [[Jormungandr]] into the great ocean that encircles [[Otan]]. The serpent grew so large that it was able to surround the Earth and grasp its own tail.[2] As a result, it received the name of World Serpent. When it releases its tail, [[Ragnarok]] will begin. [[Jormungandr]]'s arch-enemy is the thunder-god, [[Thor]].
